Wan To-hung earns her living by singing in a brothel. She is in love with Ching Yat-wong, a poor scholar with excellent military and literary knowledge. Hung is forced to marry a rich man Wong Pak-tan by her foster mother. Hung and Wong contemplate to take poison to declare their love. To pursue the truth, the official grants fake poisonous wine to the two. The lovers take it without hesitation. The inspector general is moved to free Hung.
