BeBe was once a bright sunshine girl before she dies of a terrible accident. From then on, she wanders around the resort village of Cheung Chau all alone eternally, looking beyond her world with curiosity.
Cheung Chau has also long been a love birds handout, but she has been deprived of this privilege until she meets Dan. Dan is an out of luck policeman who has lost his gun; and he is out looking for a replacement from arms hustler Bing after borrowing from the loan sharks. Bebe tries to help Dan out, but this has only made matters worse and results in Dan's girlfriend wanting to split from him.
